3.3 About This Mac

3.3 About This Mac (Transcript)

With your install of Alfred, if you type “about,” you’re going to get the “About This Mac” window. Or you can see, because I just put the System Settings one in, I can jump to the About screen in the system settings.

But what if you wanted to get all that information delivered to the Alfred results window? Well, there’s a workflow for that. It’s called “About Mac.” Here it is—just go ahead and install this thing.

I’m going to mark this one as a tool. You can see the command is “about,” and you just hit Return, and it gives you all the answers in large type. So now that it’s installed, we’ll close Alfred, close Safari.

I’m going to type “about” one more time, and you can see that it just yanked all the information out of the About window and it’s got it there for me: the username, the computer name, the model, the IP address, the details of the chip. I’ve got all the details I need here. Like, I can see what is my display resolution or what’s my uptime just from the “about” command in Alfred without even looking in the window.

I love this one.
